Looking for something a bit different for a festive get-together or lunchtime party? We’re open for business through the winter, from 1st December to 6th January the boats will be in festive dress with mince pies and mulled wine included in the price. There is also a special discount on meals at the King’s Head in Hunton Bridge if you pre-book a lunch stop there during your cruise.
Crisp bright winter days on the canal can be just as enjoyable as warm sunny ones, but even if we’re not so lucky with the weather, the centrally heated cabins will be cosy-warm. We’ve refreshed our collections of music cds and added playing cards, dominos and a few other games.
All trips start and finish at our Nash Mills base , where there is ample free parking.
Departure time: your choice, from 10am onward. Boats will return to the base by 3pm.
Choose to travel north through Hemel towards Bourne End, or south towards Watford.
Travelling north, there’s the option of a stop to visit the interesting Hemel Food Garden and Farm Shop canalside just to the south of B&Q. On offer is a short guided tour of the site, tastings of “Wobbly Bottom” cheese and apple juice and a browse around other shop produce, hand-made Christmas decorations and gifts. Please tell us when you book if you’d like to include this visit in your itinerary.
On board kitchens are comprehensively equipped for you to prepare your own meals but check with the bookings team on inventory if you’re planning anything ambitious.
Alternatively, the crew will advise you on pub stops. If you’re travelling south, the Kings Head, a real ale pub canalside at Hunton Bridge is convenient, and if time is tight, they will deliver meals to the boat given sufficient notice – the crew can phone through your order at the beginning of the cruise. If you prefer to eat in the pub, it’s important to arrive at the base no later than 10.30am as prompt departure is needed. Download the menu
Otherwise we recommend the Kings Langley Fish and Chip Shop: by special arrangement with Waterways Experiences they deliver your order to the boat . Copies of the menu is on board (including chicken and sausages as well as fish) and the crew will phone through your order once you’ve chosen.
There’s always a welcome too at the Red Lion, our close neighbour at Nash Mills – great for post – trip relaxation and refreshment.
