If you’re looking for something different to get you through the gloomy winter ahead, we have the solution. Here at Waterways Experiences we’re open for business throughout the Winter providing day trips along the canal from Nash Mills, Hemel Hempstead. You hire the boat, we provide skipper and crew.
Crisp bright winter days on the canal can be just as enjoyable as warm sunny ones but even if we’re not so lucky with the weather, the centrally heated cabins will be cosy and warm. Our boats come equipped with snug tartan throws and cushions, both of which can also be used on the outside seating area for those sunnier days. During the winter we also have complimentary hot chocolate and marshmallows in addition to the normal range of beverages freely available for our guests.
From 1st December to 6th January the boats will be in Festive dress with mince pies and mulled wine included in the trip price.
We have on board a great collection of music CDs, games and colouring activities to suit a range of age groups.
All trips start and finish at our Nash Mills base. There is ample free parking at the base.
Departure time: Trips start from your choice of time, with finishing time dependant on daylight hours during the winter
Choose to travel north through Hemel towards Bourne End, or south towards Watford.
Travelling north, there’s the option of a stop to visit the interesting Hemel Food Garden and Farm Shop canalside just to the south of B&Q. On offer is a short guided tour of the site, tastings of “Wobbly Bottom” cheese and apple juice and a browse around other shop produce, hand-made Christmas decorations and gifts. Please tell us when you book if you’d like to include this visit in your itinerary.
On board kitchens are comprehensively equipped for you to prepare your own meals but check with the bookings team on inventory if you’re planning anything ambitious.
Otherwise we recommend the Kings Langley Fish and Chip Shop: by special arrangement with Waterways Experiences they deliver your order to the boat . Copies of the menu is on board (including chicken and sausages as well as fish) and the crew will phone through your order once you’ve chosen.
There’s always a welcome too at the Red Lion, our close neighbour at Nash Mills – great for post – trip relaxation and refreshment.
