A typical day trip
Spend a day on the canal and enjoy a “Waterways Experience”
On a typical day trip, you’ll get plenty of opportunity to enjoy the scenery and the beauty of the canal and get involved in steering the boat and working the canal locks.
We aim to make it a day that you will remember. Here’s what you can expect on a day trip with Waterways Experiences.
Arrival
Please plan your journey to arrive at least 15 minutes before the agreed departure time. You will be greeted by a crew member who will escort you down the sloping ramp onto the canal wharf and your boat. Early arrivals may wait in our visitor centre. We have ample car parking. If you or any members of your party are held up by traffic or other delay, please telephone the skipper whose number is included in your pre-departure email.
Our main car park can accommodate small and medium vehicles but has insufficient turning circle for long minibuses and coaches. These must park in the area just outside of the base compound. If you let us know that you will be bringing a long vehicle, we will try to reserve a parking place for you.
All aboard!
The skipper and crew will welcome you aboard and help you to unload any food and drink that you bring. There is a strict no smoking policy throughout the boat.
Safety briefing
When you are ready to set off, the skipper will deliver a briefing for the day including important safety information. Please encourage all your party to pay good attention.
