Supporter experiences

The generous support of our volunteer team, donors and partners allows us to provide canal boat trips to groups of people who may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience spending time on the water.

Thank you to all our supporters.

“My view is that a huge amount of effort has gone into turning the fortunes of this charity around in the last few years. They are highly professional and carry out extremely valuable work. It was clear to me that the volunteers were well trained and that they thoroughly enjoyed their roles.

This has proved to be a great partnership between two charities who have the general well being of the local people at their hearts and we hope to be working together regularly in future.”
David Kirk, Chair, The Box Moor Trust

“As trustees of a locally run family charity we were delighted when Waterways Experience took over the running of Sheldrake III for us in 2015. Since then they have expertly run and managed this wide beam boat for the benefit of disadvantaged and people with disabilities.

The volunteers running this highly successful and well loved charity combine  compassion and boating expertise with absolute professionalism in everything they do.

It has been our absolute pleasure to support and work with them and we look forward to continuing our collaboration with them for many years to come.”

Waterways Experiences has the same simple philosophy which has driven my 34 years of Masonic Charitable support in the community. Giving the special needs and disadvantaged children and young adults the opportunity to experience something they would normally miss out on. Namely a lovely safe canal cruise surrounded by Mother Nature.

Waterways came to my notice during my eight year tenure as Charity Steward for the Herts Masons and it was a pleasure to support them with donations from Province and individual lodges.

A win win was achieved when we booked a Lodge social cruise and enjoyed a day on the canal whilst part sponsoring a special needs trip”.
Chris Noble, Charity Steward, Park Street Lodge.

“I initially joined Waterways Experiences as a volunteer crew member which I thoroughly enjoy, every trip is different but the one constant being is how happy people are when they finish their trips.

Over the past three years as I’ve learnt more about the charity I realise the importance of in-kind and financial support and I’m pleased to give a donation, it’s such a great feeling supporting others and helping this amazing charity.”
